About Your Specialized Therapy Experience with Rocketa (Rocki) Naron, MA, LMFT-A
In my psychotherapy practice, I have not only the benefit of employing my training, experience, and education as a licensed marriage and family therapist associate to empower, encourage, and assist my clients in developing a deeper understanding of themselves, their concerns, and their resources, to create innovative management solutions for their specific concerns, but the additional benefit of drawing from my personal experiences with chronic intermittent pain. I believe there are very few limitations to human strength, ingenuity, and ability. I feel it is part of my job as a therapist to assist my clients in fully realizing their own abilities to define and reach their individual and interpersonal goals.
Many of us at some point in our lives will be tasked with the management of our own chronic pain. This can be a difficult, fear inducing, isolating, and sometimes exhausting process. Occasionally, we need someone with whom we can evaluate our resources and devise ways of aligning them effectively that allow ourselves the best shot of overcoming the obstacles and personal and interpersonal hurdles that chronic pain can frequently present. Often, we can find ourselves in need of an understanding and compassionate ear and of some energizing motivation. This is where therapy can be both helpful and effective. To increase accessibility for those who may have occasional difficulty getting to the office, these sessions can be supplemented via telephone or email conversations.
From the onset of symptoms, through the diagnostic process, through the disease management stage, the experience and management of auto-immune disorders can be a very isolating, frightening, painful, and exhausting experience. Many people, including healthcare providers, family members, and employers, can often misunderstand the experience of a person managing this type of disorder. The process can often leave one feeling "crazy", guilty, anxious, and sad. Therapy can be helpful in the process of identifying, normalizing, and redefining the situations that can lead to the generation of these feelings and thereby create new meanings, directions, and management techniques.
