Why Therapy Can be an Option:
Most of us at some point in our lives will run into circumstances that can leave us feeling stuck, helpless, anxious, desiring improvement, or just out of options that appeal to us. In these instances therapy can be a very good option as it can provide us with new hope, perspective, and management options.
Which is Most Appropriate for MY Needs, Therapy or Coaching?
Therapy can be an intense and emotional process in which mental health diagnoses may be utilized and treated and deeply traumatic past events can be discussed in great depth and worked through. Coaching is a present and future minded process in which client and coach discuss and design client goals, identify potential obstacles, and devise ways to manage obstacles and reach the identified goals. The client's past can be discussed in coaching in the context of how it might relate to reaching current and future goals, however, should there be an indication that further exploration of the client's past or client's mental health might be helpful, an appropriate referral is likely to be made.
